Psalm | 시편 | መዝሙረ ዳዊት 98

“His works, done by His hands, will show the world that He reigns, over all things and over me.”

Psalm 98 is a picture of jubilant, expectant, worship-filled hope. The psalmist explodes in joyful praise, anticipating the righteous, equitable reign of God as the just Judge who puts all things right. Jesus comes as the fulfillment of the hope of His people, inaugurating the Kingdom and reigning in justice - a reality beautifully pictured in the poetry of this song, expressed in English, Korean, and Amharic (the language of Ethiopia).

“Let my whole life be an image of Your love, an image of the love You showed to me”

I never anticipated how the song could resonate so powerfully as a prayer for the people of God to be a light to the world. This song encapsulates what this whole project is about: the Tzaddiqim, the righteous people of God, reflecting his grace and love to a world that is broken and hurting.

Fall Afresh | Desciende Aquí

“Use us for Your Kingdom, fall afresh on us”

This song is a prayer that the Spirit of God would come down and empower the people of God to be at work in a broken world. I love how the leader’s passion for leading worship in his heart language comes through.

Redeem, Restore | Redime, Restaura | Gbaputa, Weghachi

“These wounds from the past, we offer them up to you. These marks and these scars, are my story made new. The Lord will redeem and restore.”

We remember Christ’s death on the cross. His body broken, marked by scars, He was dead and buried. But we know His resurrection from the grave proved that death doesn’t have the final word in the story!

It’s been exciting to see this song minister to others as they see and feel their own narrative, their own brokenness, reflected in the lyrics of the song. What’s so compelling about the story of Jesus Christ is how God used brokenness to reshape all of history, and how He’s even now using our brokenness for His Glory. The Lord WILL Redeem and Restore.
