Equivalent.

The marriage of intentional and emotional songwriting with professional musicianship and creative production. This collaboration with Amanda Rohling represents a culmination of Owen Longjohn’s journey as an artist and producer.

The EP.

This album was recorded over the course of just a few months. The songwriting process began in March of 2019, and the recording began just over a month later. Owen and Amanda worked with a team of writers to bring together these four songs, challenging one another as the melodies and lyrics took shape. Even as the writing was still being finalized, Owen met with a number of musicians in and out of the studio to seek the best performances possible for this album. With instrumentation that includes flugelhorn, Rhodes, aux percussion, and vocal effects, the recording process was a continual process of arranging and discerning–discerning what components would serve the songs in the best way possible. With everything recorded by June of 2019, Owen spent the summer mixing and tweaking the tracks to bring these four beautiful and enchanting songs to people’s ears.
